Dr. Albert did his undergraduate and Optometric degrees at Indiana University matriculating in 1977. He joined Ossip since 2011 and has practiced at the same location for 30 years. He is involved in historic interpretation at The History Museum in South Bend, Indiana. He is a lifelong artist working in acrylic and oil painting.
Dr. Coalter completed a post-doctoral Residency in Hospital Based Rehabilitative Optometry at the Hines VA’s Central Blind Center and West-Side VA (Chicago) after completing Low Vision Externship at the Minneapolis Society for the Blind as part of his doctoral training at the Illinois College of Optometry. He joined Ossip after fulfilling roles in Academic, Hospital Based/Medical Optometry, and as Clinical Director of a prominent NEI cited “Center of Excellence” in Low Vision Rehabilitation near Chicago. Returning to primary/family eyecare practice near family in Indiana was once again possible when he joined the Michigan City Ossip practice in 2014. The Coalters love hiking, travel to anyplace beautiful, and as a result of his wife’s work (IU Alumna) as a collaborative pianist/accompanist at Notre Dame and love of ceramics – the pursuit of beauty in music, nature, faith, and the arts. Though he’s collaborated in landmark research in his subspecialty field, Dr. Coalter is excited to once again be able to see children, fit specialty contact lenses, and strive to provide the best care to patients with eye conditions that can impair sight. When you meet him you’ll sense he cares about you and loves helping you see your very best.
