Dirk Titus, O.d.
Dr. Dirk Titus obtained his undergraduate degree and Doctorate of Optometry from Indiana University. After graduating in 1981, Dr. Titus entered the U.S. Navy where he served as an optometrist. He had the privilege of being the first optometrist to serve aboard a ship - the USNS Mercy, a hospital ship. The Mercy provided humanitarian healthcare to the Philippines, New Guinea and Fiji. Dr. Titus became a Golden Shellback when the ship crossed the equator and international date line simultaneously – an outstanding honor in the seafaring crowd. Leaving active duty, he practiced in Kokomo, IN before landing in Greenwood where he has resided for almost 30 years. Dr. Titus continued in the Naval Reserves achieving the rank of Commander before leaving to spend more time with his family.
Dr. Titus is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Indiana Optometric Association, the Central Indiana Optometric Society as well as the Fellowship of Christian Optometrist and the Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity. A member of the American Legion he continues to support our service members, past and present.
Married to Denise, they have two adult daughters and are blessed with two grandsons. Traveling, good food with family and friends, and spoiling their grandsons is their passion. Both also enjoy being members of the Indycar medical team – quenching the need for speed.
